NURSING
PHILOSOPHY
These are the values that direct how I work as a nurse. In short, loyalty to coworkers, my company, and my supervisors drives me, and respecting the desires and needs of my patients guides me.
Nursing is an exciting field to be entering. It provides hands-on care to clients and has the potential to impact those clients in major ways. Nurses are the patient's advocate—conveying what the patient wants to the right channel. I want to be the kind of nurse that my patients know they can trust, one that they know will provide quality care to them and listen to what they are truly saying. In patient care, compassion and respect are the two most important values to me. Amongst my coworkers and in my job, I value loyalty and integrity—I want my coworkers to know that they can depend on me and that I will always strive to abide by the policies of the organization and the nurse's scope of practice.
I believe that all people deserve to be treated with respect and compassion. As a nurse, I remember that people are not just bodies—they have a mind and spirit as well. All three parts are vital components of health. Nurses provide holistic care to the whole person, considering the well-being of not only the body but also the mind and spirit. They are coordinators of care, consulting other professions outside their scope of expertise. Above all, nurses are patient advocates, making sure that what the patient wants and needs is heard.
I believe that my purpose as a nurse is to enable healing and well-being in my clients, and I will work to keep that at the forefront of my practice.
